 Worship, Preaching, and Music

From our inception, the Holy Eucharist has always been and remains the heart of our worship, from our mid-week said celebrations of the Holy Communion to the Solemn Choral Eucharists of the great festivals, attendant with traditional music, vestments and incense.  Our current practice is to use Rite I at our 7:30a.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Thursday services.  Every morning, with the exception of Sunday, the Rector says Morning Prayer with all who wish it in the Church Building at 8 AM.
Preaching is a crucial part of our worship.  We value preaching that is both Scripturally grounded and shaped to the needs and concerns of contemporary life.

Our music rests on the abilities of our professional Organist; a Choir Director and Soprano Solist; and a volunteer choir comprised of members of the congregation.  Through weekly rehearsals, they offer to the rest of the congregation leadership in the singing of psalms, hymns and the music of the liturgy.  They also bring to us the gift of specially prepared anthems.  In a notable evidence of ecumenical cooperation, our choir joins with the choir of neighboring Gloria Dei Lutheran Church to sing together at one another’s services for the great festivals of the Church Year.

We rejoice in the services of a significant group of women and men who serve as Readers, Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers and Eucharistic Visitors at virtually all celebrations of the Holy Eucharist.  We are equally blessed with a number of very dedicated women who form Annunciation’s Altar Guild.
